Pro Wrestling: The Big Egos With Zero Reason

Oh hey Divas! Your favorite diva and teacher is back with another one. A month into settling into both the new job and school, and this girl is doing ok for the most part. Time management was never a good friend of mine; we are making things work, especially with another class starting in November to add to my already busy schedule. That will make a full-time job plus three classes and Stella.

Now I understand the purpose of online grocery shopping.

On with the show.

Three weeks removed from All Out and the media scrum that has people talking. Some are siding with the Elite, others with Punk. Being from Chicago, I am siding with Punk. Even if I wasn't from Chicago, I would still side with Punk. Why? One simple reason.

The Young Bucks have huge egos. They have huge egos and have no reason to whatsoever. While I don't know them personally (and I don't), it appears to me that they are the most egotistical team in all of pro wrestling, lacking valid reason to be that way.

They aren't that great at wrestling, and let's face it: they are pretty boys, circa the Midnight Rockers 1986. MR made me want to watch them as a kid growing up in the eighties; the Bucks give me no reason to want to watch them and they lack the appeal as a legit tag team. I don't find anything special about them other than the comedy they bring, and the wrestling isn't there. It's almost like they are given the routine and allowed to make the mistakes with zero repercussions. In dance, the routine is comprised of certain elements all genres with emphasis put on transitions (turns and leaps or specific movement between members of a group). In pro wrestling, there are visible transitions and to the real fan, one can spot them easily. Back to dance, a popular transition that many dance teams do (specifically the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders plus other pro teams, along with collegiate dance teams) is a kick line. The arms are linked through the shoulders depending on placement in line with all dancers kicking at the same time, usually to the count of eights. Add a jump split where one kicks until six, jumps at seven and lands in a split at eight. Timing is precise and jumping too early can injure people. With pro wrestling, any move done at the wrong time and/or wrong can lead to serious injury. (See Darren Drozdov).

To illustrate my point about dance and pro wrestling, go watch LSU's Tiger Girls 2022 hip-hop routine which looked like one person dancing and won first place with UDA. Go to Pluto and watch "Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team", led by former cheerleaders Kelli Finglass and Judy Trammell. Imagine one of those girls making a mistake during the routine-it would've cost LSU that first place, and DCC will cut you from training camp if you make a mistake.

Yet the Bucks can't wrestle and still have jobs as wrestlers. Imagine one of them making a crucial mistake. Would they still have jobs? Most likely yes and we know why-their friendship with TK got them top jobs, and while in their positions, their egos grow and grow, continuing to grow with each passing day.

Punk has an ego, but he has a reason to. He's good at what he does, makes people want to watch him, and that pipebomb from 2011 was the best thing in history. The lone wolf, he does what he does and does it well-I've had the pleasure of seeing Punk in person a handful of times, and it was worth the money. The last time I saw Punk was at Dynamite last year in Chicago. Guess what shirt went first? Of course it didn't help where we were, but how many people would buy a Bucks shirt compared to Punk?

I think we both know the answer to that, and what's understood doesn't need to be explained.

It's one thing to have an ego when you are good at something, and it's another thing to lack talent and have an ego. Thats exactly who the Bucks are, and sadly, nobody sees it.

Nobody except Punk, and the Bucks are so fragile they can't handle it.

My pal Virtue of NoDQ and Twitter said it best: " "I'd pay $100 to see Punk at the media scrum but wouldn't pay a $1 to see the Bucks wrestle' ". (Sorry bro if I didn't get the quote right, but you know I mean well.)

I'm attending Dynamite in Chicago this year for Thanksgiving and I'm not paying to see the Bucks. Unfortunately, I won't see Punk either, but that's ok. There's always next year.

Now off to do homework and get some sleep. But who can sleep when you are excited about tickets on sale tomorrow?

With ice cream and love,

Dani
